BASES
Space Stations
The five major space stations are all in Earth Orbit; 1 is Russian, 1 is American, 1 is European and 2 are owned by Swiss and Japanese multi-nationals. Strato-transcender flights are used to reach the space stations. The construction of a big ring station at a la Grange point is planned in the near future.
Charles de Gaulle Space Station
A traditional design was used by the European Space Liason. The station is currently being expanded with construction work ongoing. The other stations that were not featured share a similar design.
Ronald Reagan Space Station
The Americans have tried to combine the advantages of Earth and space. The research and industrial processes reliant on zero g take place on the central shaft whilst the crewmembers can sleep and relax in the modules at the end of the rotating arms which enjoy the benefits of 1/3 of Earth gravity.
The Moon
Moonbase
Moonbase is located in the area of the Sea of Copernicus. It is very much a melting pot with staff from all over the world. The base co-ordinator is selected, on rota, from an international pool of applicants. Moonbase runs on GMT with English as the standard language. As is normal in such projects money can be in short supply and therefore it relies heavily on private investment.
On the surface there are; three inflated domes, rover hangers, freight hanger and gas/liquid storage tanks. This is only a small part of Moonbase with the majority below the lunar surface. The underground complex has a wheel shaped layout with the mess and recreation rooms on the outer ring. The spokes contain various facilities such as the European Office Suite which in conjuction with the Charles de Gaulle co-ordinates ESL activity. The hub contains the administration offices as well as the science annex where the ISPF head quarters is located. Several other offices in the annex are used as storeage space as the planners underestimated the researcher's desire for privacy. Many of the anticpated scientists are located in the outposts. The occupants of the base look forward to the medical centre opening shortly.
As well as Moonbase there are other facilities dotted around. Various outposts have been set up for those involved scientific research who prefer a higher degree of privacy than can be obtained at Moonbase, such as Outpost 9 which has a crew of 8. Other locations include industrial enterprises such as mining and the moon catapult undergoing construction for the big ring project.
Mars
The colony has about 500 families living there. The colonists are reliant on regular suppy runs. A survey of the surface of Mars is being conducted. There are no ISPF on Mars at this time although plans are underway to remedy this situation.
